Include Improve Develop | Hull Rugby League Referee Society

The society has secured £7,350 in grant funding from Awards for All. This funding is to initiate a project called Improve, Include and Develop. This project will be run by a sub committee comprising of:

Steve Cross, Steve Taylor, Michael Beadle, Richard Thompson

This project will recruit upto 20 more officials over 2 years, support those with the required talent to make it to the highest level of the sport and provide those who wish to officiate in the local leagues with access to training equipment and video analysis to help them improve their officiating.

The funding will be used in three ways and provide the society with the required equipment to modernise how officials are developed and recruited.

We will:

Improve match official recruitment through marketing our society using the media, poster campaigns, targeting local rugby league clubs, schools, colleges and universities.

Provide an annual free recruitment and training course in 2009 and 2010 for 20 potential officials from deprived areas of the city of hull.

Improve

All members - current and new will have the opportunity to:

build communication skills to improve personal confidence both on the field and in their personal life.

be fitter and healthier, through inclusive and fun training sessions.

Develop

We will:

Develop current officials with a programme commensurate with their officiating experience.

Form an elite development squad for those who have the potential to achive success at the highest level of the sport.

Use video analysis, fitness training supported by a personal development plan prepared by experienced officials for all who want them.

As the scheme is rolled out, more details wil appear here. The grant will enable us to purchase specialist equipment to fulfil this important project.
